The Situation

Loudoun County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the US. County staff turned to GKY for assistance in developing and implementing proactive stormwater management policies while addressing the challenges of accelerated growth.

The Solution

GKY helps ensure efficient, cost-effective plans and procedures that comply with Phase II regulatory requirements. We have provided a range of services, including:

• Evaluating funding options, including a stormwater utility
• Developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for both illicit discharge detection and stormwater pollution prevention
• Inspecting over 400 BMPs county-wide
• Researching historical development plans, the county GIS, and the county real estate database to determine ownership of tens of thousands of stormwater structures
• Developing stormwater designs to mitigate local problems
• Developing varied stormwater training courses for county personnel
