GKY was awarded a contract by the City of Lynchburg Department of Water Resources for on-call professional engineering services for stormwater management planning, design, and construction administration for the Virginia city of 79,000 located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. The City maintains 120 miles of storm sewer lines and is in the James River Watershed, which drains into the Chesapeake Bay. The task order contract has one base term and four option years.

The contract between the City of Lynchburg and GKY encompasses professional services such as:

  • Planning related to minimum control measures (MCM) or total maximum daily load (TMDL) requirements of the Phase II Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit
  • Evaluation of and updates to the City’s stormwater master plan
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses of drainage areas
  • Updates to the floodplain management program
  • Resiliency planning / vulnerability assessments related to the effects of climate change on stormwater infrastructure
  • Developing capital project planning and / or construction documents
  • Public relations
  • Stormwater management facility design and inspections
  • Engineering and construction management services, including design document preparation; management of project bidding, construction administration services; and as-built documentation development
